About the Coalition
The Coalition to Remember the 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre carries forward work that began on the centennial in 2006, when a group of academics and activists organised a year of programmes about an event Atlanta had spent most of a century not discussing.
That work continues: annual Days of Remembrance, historical markers, soil collection, research that is still recovering names, and public education. The Coalition is convened by Culture Centers International and works with museums, congregations, universities, artists and civic organisations across the city.
